Heinous Crimes

There are many atrocities in the world that happen everyday and it's hard to keep from getting desensitized to all of the tragedy in the world. However, in today's local paper the cover story was about a local soup kitchen that got destroyed in a fire--obviously started by an arsonist. The charity is utterly in shambles and feels hopeless about what to do for the upcoming holidays. They normally feed around 1,000 people a week and this is one of the hardest times of the year for families. My dad had originally done their doors and called up after he read the article to see if they would like him to measure for new doors. He is on his way over now. Even if they somehow miraculously raised a lot of money in a week, there is no way that kitchen could be open for Thanksgiving and for the families and people who were relying on it for a holiday meal could be going without this year.

Who the hell burns down a soup kitchen?

Editor's Note: My dad actually did/does the doors for the landlord, not the soup kitchen directly.

How absolutely upsetting. I was very mad after I read this last night. We are giving our employees not just the traditional turkeys this year, but also a bag full of goodies which will include yams, beans, dessert, and stuffing. Especially in these times, seems like the right thing to do.

I follow the applause! I can't believe someone would do this. My Dad and I sat at the dinner fuming about how unbelievable people are.
